Revitalized, Refreshed & Renewed
When my kids were small I walked them all over the place. We would walk miles a day. To the park, down to the river, all around town, to the library and back home again. Sometimes I would take the stroller, other times I didn’t. When there was none, my youngest would start to lag, complain, and fuss. Her big brother would stoop down and have her jump onto his back. He ended up carrying her half the time. I didn’t mind; It made him strong and it cemented in the girls’ minds that they could rely on him when they need him. Often he would walk a while until she was refreshed or renewed enough to walk again. Once she was revitalized she would run and skip ahead with vim and vigor.
Everyone Needs A Break
No matter how young and strong we are, we get tired and we need a break. There is a temptation to think that taking a break is laziness or weakness – it’s not. Even Jesus took a break every now and then. In fact, they were so much a part of his journey with the disciples, that they didn’t question it when he went off by himself for a while. They understood the very human need to rest, take a break, unwind, and think in peace. Very often, all we need to geet going is that hope that this circumstance will not go on forever.
The Wind Beneath Your Wings
So, the next time you are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, worn out, wait on the Lord. He is waiting for us to ask Him for help. Let Him be the wind beneath your wings.
