Flashback
I had a conversation with my son last night that made me think about The Screwtape Letters. It’s been a long time since I’ve read them, so I thought I’d check YouTube to see if there was an audiobook or a video of the play I’d “seen” with my husband years ago. Flashback to two exhausted young parents on a date in the city after work. It was to be our first date in ages. We got a drink and a bite to eat before walking to the show and our front-row seats. Our excitement at being out together was no match for the comfortable seats, warmed bellies, tired feet, or heavy eyelids, and we both fell soundly asleep.
We laugh about it now, but we were mortified at the time. Probably not more than the actors or audience if we snored. Nobody told us, though when my husband shook the lead’s hand afterward and thanked him for his marvelous performance, he cut his eyes. So, I suspect either we were not entirely silent, or he noticed us napping in the front row.
While I couldn’t find a full video performance, I did find the audio (link above) and decided to give it another listen.
I’m glad I did.
Old Posts
I listened as I cleaned up and did all the things that needed to get done, and by the time it was finished, I remembered that I had mentioned the book in an old post. I searched and found it. I wrote it nearly a year to the day after the accident, which ultimately led to my creating this blog. Re-reading and, if I’m being honest, editing issues my formerly addled brain hadn’t detected, I realized that it was worth going back and looking at some of these old posts. They’re a mirror into the past, showing me both how I’ve progressed and ways I haven’t.
Throwbacks
To that end, I’m going to find good throwback content every once and a while to share with you. This post is called Don’t Let The Clouds Distract You.
I hope you enjoy it!
