Pumpkin Spice In August?
I went grocery shopping today to pick up a few things for the first day of school tomorrow. Of course, the very last thing I expected was to see anything Pumpkin Spice in August! So imagine my surprise when not only is there Halloween candy lining two full aisles but there is now Pumpkin Spice Keto Creamer in the milk section. Good Grief! Can’t a girl even enjoy the illusion of a few more days of summer?
The Beginning Of A Start And The Beginning Of An End
September is the month that starts and ends it all. It is the beginning of school for children throughout the northeast. It spells the beginning of a new year, the making of new friends, and the excitement of learning new things. As parents, we go out and buy new clothes, backpacks, school supplies, pens, pencils, and a host of other things our children may need. There is a whole college dorm industrial complex to deal with for those of us sending children off to college. But despite the hustle and bustle of new beginnings – there is the steady drumbeat of the beginning of the end of summer, of lazy days and balmy nights, of laid-back attitudes and breezy clothes. In a very short time, the wind will pick up, the rain will get cold, the leaves will begin to turn color and fall, and with that – the ushering in of the coldest, most bitter months of the year.
Summer Comrades and Winter Soldiers
It’s easy to find summer friends; it’s not so easy to find someone who will weather the winter with you. When I think about the Lord, I am glad He is not a fair-weather friend but rather a mighty warrior who will sustain us in the bleakest of winters. He rejoices in our victories, and He sustains us through the battles. How blessed are we!
Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.Â
