We Are The Letter

We Are The Letter

I’ve had a similar conversation with two people I love in the past week or so. The main idea was that YOU are the only Bible some people will ever read.

So, when I was doing my devotions this morning, this part jumped out at me. Everything about who we are, from our speech to our actions, should be a reflection of Christ’s message to the world. We are the letter.

2 Corinthians 3: 2 & 3 You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

What Does Yours Say?

One of the things I miss most about my mom is her letters. She taught me to write “Thank You” cards and letters to the people I love. She frequently sent snail mail to me and my children, even though she lived seven minutes away. A letter you could hold; a letter you could keep; a letter you could reread and treasure for years to come. After she passed, my aunt/godmother picked up where she left off. I don’t know if it was a conscious decision or if she had always done it, but it meant so much more in the absence of my mother’s letters – she filled the gap.

If her actions were a letter, it would read love.

It’s humbling to think that as Christians, our everyday existence is a letter from Christ to the world. What does my letter say? What does yours say?

Does my letter uplift? Has it brightened your day? Can it encourage you when you are down? Does it truly reflect the love of Jesus to the world? When people read my life, are they reading the gospel or something else?

Get Writing!

So today, let’s get writing! Let’s write the message of Jesus Christ everywhere we go with our lives. Because, after all, we are the letter.

Be blessed and keep thriving!
