Zero-Waste Lifestyle

Zero-Waste Lifestyle

I’m always impressed by people who live a zero-waste lifestyle. They peel an orange, save the seeds for planting, the skin for zest or marmalade, and eat the pith for all its health benefits. Not a bit of the orange goes to waste. Not just for oranges, though, for everything. What a tremendous talent to be able to use every part, even the parts that seem worthless and unusable, to make something beautiful, tasty, or helpful.

God is the King of zero-waste.

He Uses Everything

There are times in our lives when we might feel stuck, stagnant, or weighed down – God uses that. Other times, we are so busy or so blessed, we might even lose focus on everything He’s doing – God uses that. Even in the times when we feel storm-tossed, drowned, or drowning in troubles – God uses that too. He uses everything. There is not a thing in your life that God can’t use for His glory.

If you’ve strayed and come back – God uses that to show His generosity & grace..

If you’ve hit rock bottom – God uses that to show you His strength.

If you’ve reached tremendous heights – God uses that to show His blessings.

If you’ve gone through what someone else is experiencing – God uses that to show His compassion.

You Never Know

You never know why or how the experiences God is leading you through can further His kingdom until they do. Sometimes you might not even see the why or how – they may be a part of someone else’s story or inspiration. If you’re feeling confused or in a place where you are unsure, stop and ask God what he wants you to learn, to see, to take from it. Just asking the question helps you to feel a bit less stuck and may open your eyes to a bigger picture.

Zero-Waste Mindset

So no more feeling like something is a waste of time. No more bemoaning the rocky ways. Start embracing the zero-waste mindset that says, What can I make or learn from this situation? How can I use this experience for God’s glory?

I know I want nothing in my life to be wasted. How about you?

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
