It’s easy to hold God’s hand when the way is long and dark and the light seems too far away when the steps between now and relief are filled with terrors lurking in the shadows, swallowing up your hope.
But what about when you are so much closer to the end? Why are we so apt to let go of His hand in our race toward brighter days, better opportunities, and fresh air? Why, when the way looks like it is just a brief double step out of peril, do we forget who led us all the way? Even when the road seems lit, there are many paths from which to choose. It seems to me that often the greatest peril lies in the choices we make when everything seems to be going right. Our choices can thrust us right back into the darkness before we have even had a chance to feel the breeze whistling past our ears.
Order my steps Lord, lead me by your righteous hand. Thank you for protecting and guiding me through the darkness. May your will be done in my life. Â Amen

Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path
