The Ultimate Content Creator
Yup! You heard me. I know the ultimate content creator—the very first creative. God.
It’s interesting that arts funding in schools is always on the line, and arts programs are the first to be cut. Creativity has often been relegated to “side hustle” or “hobby” status instead of being elevated in our society. I wonder why so much of today’s creativity is commercialized.
Maybe the reason is that when we are creatively using God’s gifts for His purpose, we are most like Him. After all, we are created in His image. And, as the ultimate creator – creation is in our DNA.
Perhaps the goal is to distract us from the ultimate use of our gifts – praising and honoring God.
The very first sentence of the bible begins with creation.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
Clearly, creativity is valued in God’s plan for mankind.

Filled With The Spirit
I want to be filled with God’s spirit. It’s the part of God that resides within us – the helper, the reminder, the guider – it’s also imbued with the creativity of God. Did you know that the very first person in the bible said to be
filled with the Holy Spirit is a creative?
Exodus 31 tells about Bezalel, who is filled with the spirit of God, specifically so that he can be creative. In fact, God provides him with a helper, Oholiab, so that they may craft beautiful, ornamental, and useful items needed in the praise and worship of God.
Exodus 35 continues to detail the important creative work that needed to be done. It even discusses how Bezalel and Oholiab were given the artistic skills needed by the Holy Spirit, as well as the ability to teach these skills to others.

God’s Love In Crafts
We might be tempted to think of crafting as just a hobby. But I can tell you that one of the kindest things that has happened to me in my life was a couple of ladies from church inviting me over to make cards during a difficult time in my life. I have always been an introverted and shy person, though I can put myself out there if need be. During this season of my life, these ladies decided that they would show me God’s love by getting to know me better over crafts. I came close to cancelling. a million times, but mustered the nerve to go. We sat at the dining room table, creating cards with stamps, colored marker pens, and all types of decorations. It made me feel welcomed and loved, and certainly God was there in that creative space.

Praise For His Craftsmanship
Psalm 139 and 104 highlight and praise God for His craftsmanship of us, as mankind, and all of His creations in the world. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says that God has made all things beautiful in their time. Ephesians 2:10 describes us as His workmanship. Can you imagine?! You are a literal piece of art! You were made with purpose, with love, care, and spectacular skill. You are a masterpiece! Romans 12: 6-8 advises us to use the Gifts god created us to have for His purpose – to minister to others. A wheel within a wheel – we are artwork created with the ability to create our own art. How amazing!
You don’t have to make money on it.
Or receive accolades for it.
Your creativity is a gift from God – use it! It will make you both happy 🙂
Have a wonder-filled day and keep thriving!Â
I’d love to know your favorite creative things to do!
