Remote Access
I’m not tech-savvy. I mean, I can Do some stuff – obviously. I wouldn’t have this blog If I knew absolutely nothing. But on a scale of one to ten – I’m not that high. So when I needed assistance the other day to fix a problem with an application I have, I needed remote access help. That means someone can remotely look at my screen and fix the problem on my computer. Initially, the IT specialist had some difficulty getting in and staying on because of my security systems. Eventually, however, the problem was fixed.
Applications
Lots of people have apps on their phones and computers. In order to use them to their fullest potential, they have to have “permission to make changes to your computer.” That’s also what makes downloading applications scary, or at least make you wary and proceed with caution. You have to ask yourself if you trust the maker. Can it have access to everything or just some aspects of your computer? If you have too many firewalls – will that block all access before you can even start a download?

Download And Install
Just because you download something doesn’t mean you can use it if you don’t install it first. And, if you download a faulty application, your operating system might not be able to do anything with it. That was my problem – the initial file was corrupted. The whole thing made me think about real-life applications. If we start with a corrupted file – it leads nowhere. And just because I know the Bible – downloaded it – doesn’t mean that I have installed it and allowed God to make changes in my life’s computer operating system.
Make Changes
I read my bible every day, I pray, so I’ve got the download covered. But have I given God the OK to make changes to my operating system? Have I truly installed the software? Have I given God free rein to influence EVERY aspect of my life, or have I walled off certain aspects? It seems like it should be a straightforward request, and it is when you’re dealing with computers, but when it comes to my life – well, that’s harder. Are there things that I have held onto – kept to myself? This experience made me wonder if there were areas of my life I hadn’t completely given to God. Am I holding out? Do I really want God to be able to change any and everything about me?
Use The Software
Once I finally got the opportunity to use the software I’d installed, it was great. It was so much more helpful than simply learning about it without actually using it. And maybe that’s it. It’s hard to really appreciate what could be if you aren’t willing to go all in. I guess it’s time to do a full systems check, see if there’s any malware or viruses hidden, check every nook and cranny for hold-out areas, and make sure that my firewalls are letting in what I want and keeping out what I don’t.
